The Center for Pastor Theologians is thrilled to announce the addition of a new staff member to the CPT team!
Last year, the Center for Pastor Theologians was awarded a grant from the Lilly Endowment under their Thriving Congregations Initiative. The purpose of this grant, entitled “Renewing the Ecclesial Identity of the American Church,” is to encourage the CPT to pursue our stated vision for a movement of Pastor Theologians for the renewal of the Church.
When writing the grant proposal, we built in a full-time role to guide the implementation of the grant programs. We were looking for a person who could administrate the grant program and who had the ability and experience to help pursue the CPT’s vision for church renewal. There was significant interest in the role, and we were greatly impressed and encouraged with the quality of applicants.
In the end, one candidate stood out as having the administrative skills, ecclesial experience, and relational fit that we were looking for in the CPT. I am thrilled to announce that Rev. Steve Williamson has accepted the position of Manager of Church Programming, starting on July 1.
For the past four years, Steve has served as the Cathedral Dean and Rector at Church of the Resurrection in Wheaton, Illinois. Prior to this role, Steve served as the Senior Executive Pastor (2016-2020) and Worship Pastor (2005-2016) at Church of the Resurrection.
Steve holds degrees from Wheaton College (BME in Music Education) and Cambridge University (Master of Music in Choral Studies). His experience as a worship pastor, executive pastor, and Rector indicates a combination of administrative gifts and pastoral heart that will enable Steve to give excellent leadership to the Thriving Congregations Initiative and to help shape the CPT’s impact on the broader church.
